We live in a time in which people love to have their ears tickled. In many cases it is no longer popular to teach the truth of God's Word. Therefore, many times, sadly, preachers give in to the temptation to tell the people what they want to hear.
(For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4)
Unfortunately, as long as there are people who desire to hear lies, there will be those who are willing to speak them. As preachers and teachers of God's Word, we must make certain that we never cease to proclaim all of God's Word. The Bible plainly teaches that the doctrines and commandments of men lead to a vain, or empty religion.
(These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. Matthew 15:8-9.)
(So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. Acts 20:32)
(All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
(Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21)
(Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17)
