"Have You Heard" Newspaper Articles Posted with the Permission of the Streetsboro Church of Christ.

We have talked about sin and its consequences. We have also noted the fact that we all needed a Savior and that God sent His Son to die for us. Through that sacrifice, God has made salvation available for all; “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). Now let us begin to answer the question,

"What must I do to be saved?”

Hear and believe the Bible, the Word of GodObtaining salvation begins with obtaining faith. “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24). In order for us to receive the forgiveness of sins, God demands that we believe that Jesus is His Son. Faith is not some funny feeling that God must give to us in some mysterious way! Faith is a result of a careful study and contemplation of God’s Word. God gives us faith in Christ through the Bible; “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17).

The Bible sets forth very plainly that Jesus is part of the Godhead; “Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.” (Titus 2:13). When we think about God, we must realize that there are three distinct personalities that make up the “Godhead.”  There is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In the first chapter of the Gospel according to John, Jesus is referred to as the “Word” and we are told very plainly that He is God in John 1:1; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  Verse 14 states; “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”  I quoted verse 14 just to show that the “Word” is referring to Christ.

If you want to be saved from your sins, you must first
hear the Word of God and then believe that Christ is the Son of God

But that is not all… We’ll continue next week.
