The Christian partakes of the Lordís Supper on every first day of the week (Acts 20:7). The Lord instituted this supper as a memorial to His death (Luke 22:19). When one partakes of the fruit of the vine, he is to be reminded of the Lordís blood which was shed for him.

Have you ever stopped to think about how important the blood of Christ is?

Why is it so important?

It is through the blood of Christ that our sins are washed away

In Acts 22:16, we are told that when we are baptized, are sins are washed away. In Revelation 1:5, we read the following, "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood." And, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:" (1 Peter 1:18-19).  What a wonderful gift!

It was the blood of Christ that purchased the church

"Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." (Acts 20:28). It took the blood of Christ to establish His church. What a price to have to pay! And yet, some still say that the church is not important! Dear reader, if it is not important, why did Christ die to establish it? Let there be no doubt about it, outside the church there is no salvation (Acts 2:47).

It is through the blood of Christís cross that we can have peace with God

"For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven." (Cololosians 1:19-20). Because, we can be washed from our sins and become part of the church, we can now be at peace with God. We no longer need to be separated from Him by our sin (Isaiah 59:1-2).

What encouragement this should give all of us!

Through simple obedience to God, we can have our sins forgiven!

Have you come into contact with the blood of Christ through baptism?
