Hopefully, we have established as a fact that God exists. That being the case, how are we, as mere human beings, supposed to come to a knowledge of Him? Did God just create us and then leave us to our own devices, or did He leave a guide book for us? He did indeed leave a guide book for us. We call it the Bible. The critic will say that it is easy to claim that the Bible is from God but it is impossible to prove. Therefore, let us answer the question; How can we know that the Bible is, as it claims, the very Word of God?
We can know that the Bible is the Word of God by its amazing unity. A fact that many people do not realize is that the Bible was written by about 40 different men over a span of about 1400 years. They came from many different backgrounds and occupations, and yet their writings always agree with one another perfectly. There are absolutely no disagreements or contradictions in any of the 66 books that make up the Bible. That type of unity took divine guidance.
Another proof that the Bible is the Word of God is that it contains scientific foreknowledge. Many times, Biblical writers wrote of things that they could not have possible known without divine help. For instance, It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in. (Isaiah 40:22).
The word that Isaiah uses for circle, literally means sphere. Isaiah said that the earth was round! However, this was not commonly believed until about 2000 years later when Columbus sailed around the world. How did Isaiah come to this knowledge? It was given to him by God.
Space does not permit us to mention all of the instances of scientific foreknowledge in the Bible (and there are quite a few). If you would like more information get in touch with us and we will be glad to help.
