“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 John 4:8). God loves each one of us more than we could ever imagine, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). This is a degree of love that we can not fathom.
Jesus told us, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” and, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” (John 14:15, 23). Notice also what John tells us, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.” (1 John 5:3).
However, most people in our country never show that love with their actions. “My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” (1 John 3:18). We should all examine ourselves and decide if we really love God. If one loves God, he will:
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15).
After all, He gave his blood to purchase it. “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” (Acts 20:28).
“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart…” (1 Peter 1:22).
